WISCONSIN (CoinChapter.com) — Bill Gates and Elon Musk have regularly had their share of arguments over the years. Last year in April, Mr. Musk claimed he questioned Mr. Gates about his short-selling of Tesla stock or bet on the stock’s decline in value.
Mr. Gates is in the news regarding Mr. Musk’s plan to inhabit Mars. Mr. Gates said it is not a wise use of money, adding that the SpaceX CEO does not meet the criteria for philanthropy. But he said vaccines were a better use of money than sending people to Mars.
The co-founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates, said he does not consider Mr. Musk a philanthropist. However, Mr. Gates said that while he does not currently consider Mr. Musk to be one, this may change in the future.
According to Mr. Gates, he does not think Mr. Musk is an all-around bad person. He complimented Mr. Musk’s business savvy by saying, “Things like Tesla have a beneficial influence even when they are not philanthropic in nature.” He continued, “I anticipate someday he’ll use his intellect to join the ranks of philanthropists.”
Musk’s Ideas Sometimes Seem Far fetched, But…
Mr. Gates contested the billionaire’s plan to colonize Mars. Mr. Musk’s space exploration company, SpaceX, is spending heavily on rockets and spaceships to send people to Mars one day.
Adding fuel to the fire, Mr. Gates said, “Going to Mars is pretty expensive. For example, vaccines against measles can be purchased for $1,000 each. So don’t venture to Mars.”
Mr. Musk said, “I wonder why Bill Gates chose the Porsche Taycan over Tesla.” Via Twitter, Mr. Musk added, “My interactions with Gates have been underwhelming.
Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos Are In a Personal Space Race
Mr. Musk has stated his desire to colonize Mars, and Jeff Bezos has also become involved in the space race.
The ultimate ambition of SpaceX, the rocket company Mr. Musk co-founded in 2002, is to fly crewed missions to Mars and eventually colonize the Red Planet. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is the CEO of Blue Origin and took a brief trip to space in 2021.
Bill Gates agrees that artificial intelligence would drastically change how people live. Mr. Gates said, “Space travel will enable us to investigate medical and scientific issues. Not only are robots involved; reading and writing are also being assisted.”
This feud sounds like a bunch of high school guys bickering. Sure, some good points are being made, but it gets seriously comical when one reads enough of their quotes!
